DESS General 2

Happy New year to you and your family!

My name is Françoise Jacolino-Belonje. I am not really new to DESS since I already started working at DESSC on January 5th, 2020. I was working as a school doctor at both, DESS and DESC. From January 2021 I will be the full-time school doctor at DESS.

I have been a General Practioner since 2008. My family (husband, 2 sons and a daughter) and I moved from The Netherlands to Dubai in 2017. Since 2018 I have worked as a Family Medicine Doctor (GP) in a clinic in Dubai.

What can you expect from me as a school doctor at DESS? The DESS medical team, myself along with nurse Anna and Susan, are there when your children need us. We treat them for minor and major incidents. I also assist and support the nurses when children need their vaccination.

Apart from the above, we do less obvious things as well. We educate the children in hygiene, dental care, and knowledge of how to stay healthy. We do chronic illness inventories. We check all DESS first aid kits. We check and implement all DHA guidelines and alterations sent to us during the year. We advise parents when there are uncertainties regarding their child. We advise the teachers when there are medical issues. We do medical examinations with the new students and designated year groups. The nurses check their height and weight, and their vision. I do a general health check and email the parents about abnormalities found.

If you wish to speak to any of the DESS medical staff, please contact us by calling DESS reception or by email: Dr Françoise (whole school) – [email protected] Nurse Anna (FS & KS1) – [email protected] Nurse Susan (KS2) – [email protected]

Important DHA updates

Please note that recently there have been some updates from the DHA with regard to the 14-day quarantine & isolation period. This has now been reduced to 10 days.

If you or someone living within your household is affected by coronavirus, please inform the school medical team. We can assist you with the correct procedures that you must follow and can advise regarding dates to return to work & school.

Our greatest defence in protecting the DESS community is for us all to comply with the regulations in place, such as social distancing and correctly wearing masks. If you or anyone living within your household becomes affected by coronavirus, please ensure that you are following the quarantine and isolation regulations.

If anyone living within your household is waiting for a test result, please do not send your child to school.

At DESS we will do everything that we can to minimise the risk of your child being exposed to coronavirus. In the unfortunate event that your child is deemed to become a close contact to someone that has tested positive, we will contact you to collect your child from school immediately.
